I Gave In

I couldn't stand it any longer -- all the behind-the-hand comments ,"did you hear his wife has an iPad but he doesn't?"

I was tempted by the Black Friday $40-off reduction, but no way was I going to go shopping on that day -- there's a good reason for the name. Then I got an e-mail from our local Apple store telling me that the discount had been extended one more day, and it was limited to current stock. So off I went.

Just as I feared, the store was crowded, and I had plenty of time to browse. It was a good thing I did! I was going to buy the WIFI-only model, since the cellular option added $130 to the price, and the monthly data service charge was quite expensive the last time I'd checked. I was very pleased to find a Verizon limited-time offer discounting the WIFI+cellular model by $100, waiving the $35 activation fee, and charging only $10 a month to include the iPad in our existing shared data plan.

It would have taken a better man than I to resist an offer like that -- Gunga Din, perhaps?
