River Reflections
It was another very beautiful morning for those of us up and about early, as is often the case this was the best part of the day. It is going to be a long weekend... a quiet weekend!!
I was persuaded to skate today, I haven't really skated in a number of weeks not having enjoyed it recently, in all honesty not since my hand injury. I got the twins ready and they went on to warm up, I was still questioning whether to skate but I was of a mind to give it a go. One of the coaches said she was really pleased to see me back on the ice, I have to admit it felt good to be back out there, the break maybe making me realise how much I missed it. I warmed up and then was summonsed by my coach. I had asked her to be gentle with me however that was not apparently part of the plan and I was worked hard.
After my coaching session I ached; the burn of the lactic acid searing through my muscles as I warmed down. I gently circuited the ice as I watched the twins being put through their paces, their smiles as wide as our river as they started to run their new routines. I was chatting to some of the older skaters from the junior club, they are all lovely kids and wonderful skaters. They are all very supportive of one another and help each other out, the twins are still the babies of the club and are taken under the collective wings of these kids, Fraser, like Owen Meany is picked up and hugged, his half hearted protestations do not hide his delight at the attention of these older girls!!!!
I returned to the river again, my friend away for the weekend I just felt the need to walk here and feel them close. Despite the many many miles between us. I was lucky enough to speak with my friend before they set off for their weekend and it was lovely to hear their voice and their laugh as we shared our news of the past day or so.
I loved the softness of this shot the rich colours and the reflections on the water. I hope you do too.
