Headed along to the Garvald Christmas bazaar this morning; had never been to the workshops before and they're a lot bigger than I expected. Loads of folk there so it looked like being a success and we're now an advent calendar and wooden robin better off!
After that we headed down to the Grassmarket, where we were maybe a bit early and there wasn't that much happening, before hitting the Christmas market at the mound. It's changed a bit this year but we didn't get to see most of the stalls. We nipped out to have a look at the RSA exhibition (I have no idea how they select what to show and I suspect neither do they - no offence Doug!) and then couldn't get back into the market because everyone was being turned back by the security guard. Tried at the east end of the gardens instead, no luck - people couldn't get out or in at that gate - and the two entrances on Princes St had suddenly become Exit Only despite the large Welcome signs hanging above them! And most annoyingly, the place was not even crowded. Not a good customer experience.
Word of advice to Underbelly: try letting the punters in if you want them to come back. Ho, bloody Ho!
