Exploring!

St Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, and today is St Andrew's Day; Scotland's official national day. To celebrate, Historic Scotland offer free visits to historic sites and monuments - through a ticketed system.

Last year me, Mum and Ian went to Edinburgh Castle and this year we went to Tantallon Castle and Dirleton Castle in North Berwick. This is Mum and Ian on top of the main wall at Tantallon.

Tantallon was by far my favourite, it had so many nooks and crannies and little stone staircases. I'm not sure I can describe this effectively, but I LOVE little stone stairways and little secret doors. I was in my element today. SO happy! I just can't help my imagination going into overdrive when I'm in these places. I'd have loved to have been alive (and there) when these castles were in use.

We stopped at Musselburgh for a chip butty on the way home. Marvellous.

This afternoon I met Nanisa and David, and some of their friends for a Wine Fair at the Assembly Rooms. I'm not a big wine drinker, so I wasn't entirely sure how it'd be, but it was so much fun! I also bought a delicious bottle of Chocolate Wine for Christmas. We finished the day off with a Hog Roast sandwich in St Andrew's Square.

I've had such a wonderful day! I'm now at home with my feet up, waiting for Wesley snuggles. The perfect end to the day!
