Bovine

I saw this suckler cow from about half a mile away. The light was fading, but I thought, "it's the "golden hour" and I've got 45 minutes to kill whilst the car tyres are fitted wheel tracking etc…" I set off. It took me 20 minutes to get there, but I'm sure she moved no more than 10 meters in all that time. She looked up as I entered the field about 200 meters away. She stood stock still. I walked up to her - reached touching distance. She licked her nostrils, exhaled, turned her head to the side, then back to face me square on. I crouched to get a good angle. She turned her head slowly to and fro again. I thanked her and left.

As I clambered over the gate 100 meters further on she still had not moved.
She looked slightly bereft. Maybe I should've stayed?
