Black Friday

I guess yesterday caught up with me because I slept in this morning until 10 a.m.! A while ago, that would not have been such a big deal but I have since managed to reset my internal body clock to get up earlier and thereby going to bed earlier. The strange part is that it is not even 7 p.m. and I am already tired.
I went out for a short time today but returned home quickly. There was still some clean-up to do after yesterday’s feast. Everything is almost back to normal in my house.
I went outside to get a blip today. I was hoping for a nice sunset but the clouds rolled in and prevented that. I was taking some macro shots of the evergreens trying to catch the birds hiding on the branches but they were too quick darting in and out. I looked around the gardens and decided on this gargoyle. He seemed to be glaring at me.
I am going to get the holiday decorations down from the attic this weekend and start the process of getting the house decorated for the holidays. My grandchildren will appreciate my efforts most of all. It really is quite a process, and will take the better part of this week. Long gone are the days when I used to get everything done in just one day. I accumulated so much over the years. My sisters, sister-in-laws and myself, all do an ornament exchange on Christmas Eve and I have a wonderful assortment of all different kinds of ornaments. Then there is the after-the-holiday sales that make you feel you must take advantage of such good bargains whether you need more or not.
Today, the day after Thanksgiving is known for years as “Black Friday” here in the United States. The explanation was that retailers traditionally operated at a financial loss ("in the red") from January through November, and "Black Friday" indicates the point at which retailers begin to turn a profit, or "in the black". [ I personally stay away from the stores today to avoid the crowds. I get too claustrophobic. I plan to do most of my shopping online anyway.
