'Cone On' or 'Cone Off'?

This famous Glasgow icon hit the headlines a couple of weeks ago.

The council said it depicted a depressing image of Glasgow and it was costing them around £10,00 per year to remove it. Their solution was to raise the plinth it stands on at a cost of around £65,000 thereby making it more difficult for those who put the cone on Wellington's Head to get up to it. Often they put one on the horse's ( Copenhagen) head as well.

A massive public backlash kicked off with petitions and social media campaigns and even protesters taking to the street in front of the statue to demonstrate.

Eventually they gave in to the public pressure and dropped the plan, although they do still intend to keep removing it from time to time.

This has resulted in our Daily Newspaper introducing a feature each day with a photograph where they report either 'Cone On' or 'Cone Off'. Well today I can save you the cost of the paper and tell you its 'Cone On'.
