Thanks!
Americans loooove their meat! Vegetarian options on restaurant menus are not the most frequent (although NYC restaurants do quite well), any item from the supermarket you can imagine has a recipe with chicken on it (yes, including hummus, yoghurt and cornflakes!) and a celebration is only a proper celebration when it involves a pound turkey per person.
This part of the culture has a big advantage to it: since people cannot imagine how one can live without meet, the fake meat industry is pretty big and inventive too. I've already tried fake bacon ('facon'), polish sausage, hot dogs, snitzels, chicken wings (!) and now, in anticipation of our first Thanksgiving, oven roast!
