Freezer

Our pool at the Mas, with just a little ice floating about. Last night was the coldest it's been as yet this winter, although this morning it felt almost warm because of the lack of wind.

The freezer at the Mas also had a bit of ice floating about because it had stopped working last night and begun to defrost. It doesn't like it when the temperatures go so low, and we'd forgotten to empty it for the winter.

After doing some digging I'd climbed the terraces to make a cup of tea, and thought I'd take some of the frozen courgettes back to the village to put in tonight's curry... that's when I found everything defrosting. So I brought back all the vegetables and also the mince, and now a huge pot of soup and another pot of spaghetti bolognaise* has been prepared ready for the freezer here in the village. I just hope there's room. Steve will go and bring back all the rest of the meat and fish this afternoon so I think we'll be having fish fingers for tea, not curry.

*I brought back a bag of what I assumed were basil leaves and gaily threw them into the spag. bog. pan. Ten minutes later I could smell mint - those leaves were not basil! Tastes ok though.
