Ellesmere noir

Inbetween taking a few more lantern workshop photos we headed down the canal to test settings etc for Friday night. Anything involving people, movement and night always makes photography tricky and although it is a lantern parade I wanted to isolate any really dark spots. The whole thing will be over in about 30 minutes so ideally you want to set the camera up and not think about settings and lenses again until it is over.

Within the camera there is a handheld night time mode which takes 4 pictures and stitches them together which is excellent but unfortunately you do have to wait 10 seconds or so for processing so no good as far as speed is concerned. The camera is now set on auto ISO, centre weighted metering and the lens of choice will be my 16-35 which although wide is a nice quick 2.8, hopefully therefore this will allow at least one sharp photo on the night.

This image however has been given an "old" feeling to create a slight noir feel, again essentially take a nice crisp photo using the latest camera technology and then put a filter over it which removes although the finesse, fun though!

Apologies again, yet another week getting away from me without catching up with you lovely people.
