Waiting

It was 5.30 pm and I happened to be at a local railway station where every day hundreds of commuters travel from the heart of Delhi to near by cities, from one end of the city to another. The train would subtly enter the station, occasionally blowing the horn and then for the next few minutes, one can not concentrate on a single object. The station where people would squat and wait calmly, play a friendly game of cards would turn into a war field. And there I was along with a friend sitting on the rail tracks as a spectator watching a sudden population explosion take place where nobody knows nobody, nobody care about nobody, nobody seems to notice nobody, the only objective is to some how board the train be it through the toilet window, or just try and hang onto the handle bar with one step on the ladder and the other enjoying a dangerous flight in the air.
