Wow .....

6 points in 2 matches! And the first game in 2 years and 10 months that we have come back from being a goal down to win. This evening encapsulated the roller coaster that is supporting a proper football team. We went a goal down in the first half to a dodgy penalty (well it looked dodgy to me and I had a very clear view from 100 yards away!) We came back strongly and equalised quickly. As the first half wore on, we were looking stronger and more likely to score.

However, second half Braintree came back strongly, and seemed to have more hunger and more attacking intent. General consensus amongst the Old Age Slabbers after 75 minutes was that we would bite anyone's hand off if they offered us a draw. We were looking to be heading to a defeat. Braintree had 3/4 really good efforts and were building the pressure.

And all it took was a break from Adam Mekki, and we'll pretend that he intended to pass the ball to Matt Paterson (although everyone knew it was as wayward a shot as one of my 5 irons) who did the rest.

Still time for Braintree to come back at us, and a world class save by our young on loan keeper who somehow managed to get his finger tips to the ball to nudge it over the top of the cross bar whilst horizontal (doing a Fosbury Flop!) after an instinctive reaction save.

We were down and out, and we managed to salvage 3 points. Well done Shots :-)

Exhausting work for the hard core fans who attended though! Adam has been injured since the very first game of the season and managed to play a full 90 minutes tonight. With our growing injury list (we were only able to name 4 subs tonight, and 2 of them hadn't played a game before!), Adam is going to make a huge difference over the next few weeks
