Misty Day For Me

Is rain different now? It seems to me that it rains really hard, or not at all. When I was younger, there seemed to be something leading up to a rain storm. Some drizzle, some light gentle stuff first. Now though, it starts really quickly, really intense big heavy drops, and stops just as suddenly. Is it all part of global warming?
