A puzzle

Bit of a strange blip!! It all started with a highlighter pen that was on a bench for a few days. This morning someone added a sponge!! I thought maybe it was some kind of message service between 2 people. By this evening a number of other items have been added!!! We are all intrigued as to the meaning of it all!!! Anybody got any ideas?
