The choc cycle

Great fun in the lab today...

Like most Earth materials, rocks are created and destroyed in cycles. The rock cycle is a model that describes the formation, breakdown, and reformation of sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rock. The processes that form these rock are happening at a really slow pace and the formation of rocks take many millions of years. Not very practical when you want to demonstrate that during a Science lesson...
However, if you replace rocks with chocs you can speed things up considerably! This is exactly what class 7 did this afternoon in the Lab. With the help of (a lot of) chocolate we recognised and created sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks!

PS the rocks in the choc cycle taste much better too!
