Ready for My Close-up

Even closer in large...

It's been a long time since I've had a day that I needed Flickr for the that shot that came in as a close second. Lately, I've been lucky to get one decent shot that I wanted to blip. But today was different, and I had a tough time narrowing my images down and an even tougher time choosing one to blip. I do like days like this... :))

The weather was full-on-winter today. Lots of snow and the roads were risky for travel. Hubs made it back from a 24 hour round-trip road-trip and had plenty of white knuckled stories to tell. He was lucky to make it without ending up in a ditch like the many other folks he saw over the last 2 days. Glad he's home safe and I hope the roads get better for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday travel. We're staying put, but there will be many people on the road.

Once again, on a harsh weather day, the birds and squirrels were out and about. Such a funny phenomena... Per usual, this morning I put a few peanuts and seeds on the deck for Fred the Red (squirrel). Minutes later the peanuts were gone and the snow revealed no footprints... Hmm... Maybe a bird? I put a few more out and watched closer... Yup, a bluejay! I had been hoping that they'd catch on! This afford me many chances to get the image I wanted (and a few I didn't know I wanted).

Don't worry about Fred though, he found the new suet feeder on the west side of the house and hogged it for most of the day. See Fred here, the next image is of the patient bluejay waiting for the suet feeder... There was a line-up and they had a long wait. After that are two more bluejay shots I couldn't help but post, have a peak if you have time (4 new additions in all).

It was a fun day interacting with the jays. They caught on that I would place a few more peanuts out every so often. They seemed to watch for me and arrived shortly after to fill their gullets. Click, click, click... :)) I could seem to stop...

Edit: Oh! 300... I didn't realize that was coming up... I guess the jay is going to help me celebrate. ;)
