Azolla

I love the Peabody Brunch and I love Shelby Farms. So as an early birthday celebration Sean took me to both! After an awesome brunch, we took a walk around Shelby Farms. That's where we found this amazing patch of Azolla unlike anything I'd seen before. At least I think this is Azolla. We found it growing on a little off shoot section of Pine Lake. It was this gorgeous blanket of red. I had to know more. So upon researching I found this article on "Algal Blooms, Scums and Mats in Ponds". It's an interesting read.
