Surprise!

1.30 a.m

Just home from a 240 mile round trip to be a surprise guest at my friend's birthday celebrations at The Compasses Inn Lower Chicksgrove, Wiltshire.

I knew she had booked a table for this evening, so phoned at lunchtime to add one more and asked them to keep the secret.

Arrived just before her and sat in the back bar.
Asked the waitress to give her my gift - a heart shaped plate of home made cookies with the message.

"Made with love, delivered by hand!"

I heard her say to the waitress:

"Did she bring them here today?"

Then I leapt out and said: "Surprise"

We had such a lovely evening, it was well worth the 2hrs 45 mins to get there and the 1 hr 45 mins drive home afterwards.
