Washing hands
This is mica preschool with Jen teaching the little ones to wash their hands with soap.
Strangely enough I read a report last night from the EU and UNICEF telling the world that this is the place to begin. Of course, in terms of the Malawi, I live in, the report was talking about a different Malawi on a different planet, giving an amazing array of facts and figures about water and sanitation and what a wonderful improvement they have made towards the MDG's.
Water for washing hands is a rarity, never ming soap, in any part of Malawi I try to inhabit, but in all our 31 preschools we put in pumps and have a container like this with a tap. Of course we buy the soap, but I'm sure it doesn't last too long. Soap is an expensive luxury item and attractive to our tragically poor voluntary carers.
And here maybe two out of three aint bad (Meat Loaf!!) The clean water and the container with the tap!! MICA is very good for having soap, though
