And When He passed in the hallway, well he doesn't
DDW November Challenge - Patina a green or brown film on the surface of bronze or similar metals, produced by oxidation over a long period
How excited was I to see today's word.... A word I knew I had the definitive image for. Marr's Bronzed Dome is Troon. The School was opened in 1935, financed by a fund set up by Charles Kerr Marr. The dome when it opened was indeedy bronze in colour, but due to the sea air (of which there is plenty, it wasn't long before it tarnished and became green.
The whole building was under threat not so long ago - it was never owned by the council, but by the Marr Trust and parents and former pupils came together and made such a noise, that finally, the local council have bought it over, and have promised a refurbishment in keeping with the stately nature of the building, and removing the "carbuncle" which was built on as an annex in the late 70's early 80's when I was there.
I could spout long and hard about Marr, I went to School there; both my parents went to School there, beloved Nunk, was one of the first intake there. We moved back to Troon so that the Children could go there. And they've been, and gone, and move onwards; but I'd like to think that Marr gave them the start that I hoped for and will stand them in stead for years to come.
