Wedding Afterglow
The trip down the aisle was smashing, although my emotions did get the best of me...but just a bit. My four words came off without a hitch. I said them with good volume...good clarity...and good diction..."Her mother and I."
My other 3 parts were a little tougher. I greeted the crowd, and led the prayer for the meal. Then I had to dance with the bride in the daddy-daughter dance. Here is the song we danced to. Billy Joel's Lullaby.
I did pretty good with my welcome, but the dance got to me. Much too emotional for a sensitive old man. Whether she's 30, 40, or 50...that's still my baby, and will ALWAYS be my baby. And...I had just taken my babies hand, and put it into the hand of another man...given her away.
The night went really well...and the bride was radiant. My only complaint? Music...too loud, and not enough slow stuff. When you're sitting at your table, and you have to shout to be heard...it's too loud. Why do they do that?
But...but...but...(that's 3 buts)...we're glad it's over. Lots of planning...lots of pressure. My other daughter did a great job as the wedding coordinator. The place was decked out for a princess, and a princess came down the aisle.
This picture was taken at the brunch we had today. They opened their gifts, with a little help from Merrick.
I hope this works...Here's 30 more pictures from the wedding.
P.S. Shelley (Naturelover) made the afghan for Julie. She loved it.
