Why?

Went out for a meal last night. Restaurant was Argentinian steak house and almost in complete darkness, hence poor quality of blip taken with iPhone.
What I was trying to capture was the way all the seats against the wall were occupied by women. All the men spent the whole evening looking at the wall.
Why do women need to be looking out at the action and the men staring at the decor?
Great food and wine - so stopped philosophising after the first two glasses!
