Food for Thought

This was a rare moment of gravity in a really fun evening, a great opportunity for people who have volunteered overseas (or who may do in future) to get together socially - free from the usual fear of being shunned when starting any sentence with "when I was in…"!

It's a great concept: we all bring a dish from somewhere overseas where we volunteered, curries being fairly ubiquitous but each having the unique ingredients and flavour of their country of origin.

There is a serious purpose of course, captured in this photos of a rare break from the fun and stories! As well as brining a curry, we all pay £5, which helps fund a future volunteer - it sounds strange (and of course, we are a bit 'special') - but it works.

We certainly came home full of ideas, shared experiences, laughter, friendship - and delicious curry.
