Sint arrived in Wassenaar today!
What a gorgeously festive village we found ourselves in this afternoon when we ventured out to do some Christmas shopping. A waving Sint and a plethora of Zwart Piet's arrived at the harbour and took a turn around the village - ending up partying on the little Plein right next to the Olliebollen hut. How very serendipitous...!! Sint even said good afternoon directly to us, while the Piet's danced to music that K reliably tells me she last heard playing in a club in Manchester though with somewhat different lyrics. We laughed, we ate Olliebollen - I got covered in icing sugar - we took pictures and we congratulating each other on our general good fortune to be alive at such a time and in such a place. Then we walked home - via an amazing antique shop full of things I don't need but would love to own - to dump our purchases and go food shopping. While food shopping we agreed that the only sensible thing to do at 4:26pm on a bitterly cold Saturday afternoon was to now go to the local garden centre and look at the Christmas shop...which we were fairly sure closed at 5pm. So a mad dash resulted in a very happy 20 minutes spent dreaming of a white - and red and purple and gold and silver and deer heads (?!?) - Christmas... We will be going back soon to purchase some Christmas cheer for my little hofje!!
All in all a most wonderful day - topped off with Strictly and the Doctor.
Life is good...x
