Band of light

I was attending a tutorial at the University in Newcastle this morning, so we made a day of it and afterwards escaped the Christmas shoppers in the centre of the city and made for the coast. We arrived in Seaburn, Sunderland just as the sun was going down. There was a band of reflected light across the horizon and a quite a few people wandering along the shoreline. A little nostalgic as we both went to Sunderland College a long, long time ago. We had vague memories of the coast, but of the centre of Sunderland we recognised . . . nothing.
