The Airing of the Quilts
In town for a picnic rendezvous with the Canberra granddominies and their Mummy and Daddy, we found the main street of rural Braidwood bedecked with the work of skilled quilters today. Quilts hung from balconies, strung across shopfronts, displayed on pavements and festooning stalls at the market. Quilts everywhere. The Airing was part of the annual Quilt Event being held over the weekend in arty Braidwood, a picturesque town that is heritage-listed in its entirety. Quilters from throughout New South Wales and beyond exhibited thousands of beautiful creations, and competed for awards, at every venue and gallery available. The quilts in the blip were not the most beautiful I saw, but they were fine pieces of work - and I liked the building.
