Colorado Blue Spruce

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments, stars and hearts on yesterday's sunrise. You are all so encouraging! I deeply appreciate every one of you!!!!!!! :)

Today is one of the very few cold, grey days that Colorado has. The day dawned with a temperature of 12 degrees F, and might have gotten up to 35 degrees. It did stop snowing in the night, and only left about 8 inches where we are, but significantly more in the mountains.

Over the last three years, our work has allowed us to spend most of the winter in warmer climates. But this year, we will be spending the winter months in Colorado and Nevada. We have been laughing that we have to readjust our internal temperature settings for the colder weather. And, we probably have to readjust our wardrobe a little as well. When I went out to take some pictures of the snow, my poor feet were frozen in minutes because the only shoes I have that have any traction on snow and ice are my running shoes. This afternoon I broke down and bought another sweater and a pair of snow boots.

Our electricians finally got the approval they needed to finish the major part of the electrical work on the house today. They were here from 6am to 7pm working hard without much of a break, trying to get the house finished up. That also meant that we had no power during that time, and no heat! About mid morning, I was freezing. So we put the pups in the warmest part of the house (the bathroom), put a warming pad under their bed, then went and had an early lunch. When we returned, I curled up in one of our recliner chairs with the pups and a comfortable blanket and we decided to hibernate the rest of the day. The pups were loving that! By early evening, they had the electricity restored with an new electrical panel and service panel. Yeah! The final inspection by the city/county is set for Tuesday morning! Because they had pre-inspected everything, we do not foresee any problems.

This photo is a close up of the Colorado Blue Spruce that is in our front yard. I have always loved this tree. I love the soft blue-green color of the needles and the tiny cones that start to appear in late fall. When it snows, the branches collect the snowflakes like loving arms. When I imagine picturesque snow scenes, they always have a warm fire glowing inside a snug cabin, with gorgeous snow capped mountains behind, and a tall, snow ladened Colorado Blue Spruce.
