So Today started off as one of those days where things just didn't seem like they'd be going well. Just to spoil the end of this blip, I ended up having a very happy day once I sort of woke up.
This morning I noticed a whole new fresh layer of snow added to the already existing pile on the ground. Though very pretty, I wasn't exactly in a snowy mood. With some slips and slides on the way, I finally made it down our steep hill to the train station. I was proud that I carefully managed to avoid landing on my bum!
As usual, I got off the train, walked my five minute walk to university and waited by the lecture room. When I realised by about 8.55 that I was still the only one waiting outside the room, I figured I best check my timetable to see where I'm meant to be. Sure enough... between monday morning and today, administration must have thought it either funny or simply a good idea to change the assigned room to one in the building at the other end of town (approx. 20 minutes away).
On my way back to the metro station I bumped into my friend Loris who made exactly the same mistake. - at least I wasn't alone. After taking two metros, we met Hana by the tram station. We jumped on the tram and noticed only a few stops later that we managed to jump on the wrong tram. Wonderful! The situation at this point really could be nothing but early morning comedy. We did manage to finally make it to our class though.
After a whole day of university, I had just over an hour to potter about town until going to teach english. So I figured I would use my time to wander around and get some inspiration for Christmas presents. Walking in and out of shops and hearing Christmas songs put me in a festive mood and brought a smile to my face. I saw this book when I was in the FNAC. Not only the title, but also all the yummy recipes made me think of my dad and his yummy cooking. (Also really craving feijoada, just in case my parents are wondering what to cook while I'm home again. :P)
Only just before I was supposed to arrive at my 'students' house for english, he texted me to cancel. Though slightly frustrated, I was a little happy to be able to go home early.
Ended up having a long and very good skype with Rach still. Really looking forward to seeing her hopefully soon again!
