Bantry - Railway Terrace

After the weekly shop in Bantry and a mooch around the market I have taken to exploring the small streets and alleyways hiding behind the main town. They are truly fascinating and hide a wealth of history. The railway is long gone (more's the pity) but this small terrace bears witness to its location.

Low sun bathed the houses in Railway Terrace beyond the dark, steep approach from the town. Uphill from Wolfe Tone Square, past the Church of St Brendan The Navigator, the broken railway bridge and lion-headed hydrant; small houses, proud homes for town people, each with their own history to tell.
