Baking

It was cold and cloudy, a good day to do some baking. Somehow that seems to make a dismal day more cheery. And, I had a helper. Our 4 year old grand daughter was over and put the ingredients in the mixing bowl. I think the eggs fascinated her the most. She then spent a few minutes watching through the oven door as the carrot muffins were baking. Best of all was when the muffins were cooled, iced and ready for sampling. She took a few home, including some for Grandma and Grandpa, so she could share with us when we came to her house to visit.

The eggs reminded me of a fun cooking tip on how to separate the egg white from the yolk. The challenge for today is fluid, something which takes the shape of it's container. Separating eggs is like separating two types of fluid. The tip is to squeeze a plastic water bottle and draw the yolk into the bottle, leaving the white behind. Here's a YouTube video where someone decided to try this with 5 eggs. I'd say this person was successful!
