"Where It Is A Duty To Worship The Sun, ....

.... it is pretty sure to be a crime to examine the laws of heat." Voltaire was incarcerated in the Bastille for this observation.

Had a lovely swim with my old mate this morning. Loved hearing his traveller's tales and talking togging, kit and birding.

I decided to go in search of the Epping Green deer crew. I have photographed them a few times before but not recently. They weren't in either of their regular fields so I walked along Epping Long Green and across a very muddy field, showing deer footprints, into the woods. I am always struck by how little wildlife there is in woods in comparison with fields and hedgerows. No sign of the deer.

As I walked back to the car the sun was dipping low so I drove the short distance to The Travellers' Friend and ducked along the public footpath towards the open fields. Lovely sunset. :)

I passed the deer field on the way home and there they were! So lovely to see them. I stopped and got some shots but my lens wasn't up to the failing light. :( I love the variation. Some are very light and dappled, others are nearly black. I plan to try to capture them early one morning.
