The compulsory cross-country run, 2013 style.

About 40 years ago I used to be sent on a compulsory cross-country run on Autumn afternoons in St Andrews, where I went to school. I actually rather enjoyed them because I was quite quick, and since I was the smallest bloke in the school it was one of the few opportunities I had to show a little bit of sporting prowess (the other one was when as a scum-half in the teachers v pupils rugby match I tackled the Maths teacher, Mr Taylor, who broke his arm in the fall).

Most of my school mates hated the cross-country runs. Similarly, this lot, who ran pass me with my dogs, were mainly ambivalent or didn't seem to like running.

I wonder if there are any budding runners here?
