It's Mickey Mouse's Birthday Party

Yes, I heard it on the radio and checked on line and it is his birthday. You may have already known that. But for me it needs a comment or two. I had just brought out a bunch of old photo albums the other day to get some family information and I noticed that Mickey's picture was on the front of one album. Since it is his birthday and he was on the top of the stack I took his picture.

When daughter Wendy was about 3 and 4 she used to sing and dance with a little group to the words and music of “Mickey Mouse's Birthday Party" which is a very fond memory. We have a cousin who now works at Disney Land in California singing and dancing. Connections, connections and good memories.

Our friend Mickey first came on the screen November 18th, 1928. Mickey Mouse turns 80 years old today, and there's not a gray hair on him.
The first two Mickey shorts drew no attention, but then came Steamboat Willie, the first animation to feature synchronized music and sound effects, hit the screen. The film premiered in New York on Nov. 18, 1928 and was an instant hit.

A series of Mickey Mouse shorts appeared within a matter of months. The mouse was a national fad by the end of the year, and it wasn't long before the real genius of Walt Disney kicked in.
Walt quickly started up a line of Mickey merchandise, and within two years the Mickey Mouse Club, a fan club for children, was up and running.
By 1937, Disney Studios was producing about 12 Mickey shorts a year, with Disney himself providing the mouse's high-pitched voice.
