The Polder House

There's a nice story on this picture:

A few months ago I wrote fellow blipper 'Blipart / Tiebreaker' that I wanted to shoot the Polderhouse and asked him if there was a good spot where I could do so, as there is a heavily used main road in front of it.

We decided we would both try to make a photo of this unique house.

The Polder House is built in 1931 and has been used until 1996 - you must see this old archive picture - but then it really became unique….

Why?

The municipal decided to build a mega shopping mall on exactly the same location, but instead of breaking the house down, they built the mall around the house and added a great big shopping window in front it so it can be seen by the many passing cars.

The house is now a part of an interior decorating shop and you can see all their goodies in a real house environment.

A nice example of thinking 'inside-out' ;-))

During my location check friday 15th - it's just around the corner of the Coca Cola shot - I found an ideal spot on the slope between the main road and the water surrounding the mall.

This gave the possibility to shoot almost the same angle as the original archive photo mentioned above.

To avoid reflections in the mega window I had to wait till the lights in the shop would be powerful enough to eliminate that and the magic hour sunset sky provided the rest of the desired backdrop.

Enjoy it, it was a complex project, but very rewarding :-)

ps. viewing big is often the best way to see the details, just hit the 'L' key
