what's new...?

No lunch for me today as I had an inconveniently times midwife appointment at 1. A straightforward chat where I was told I was slim, (why, thank you!), fit (let's not go that far) and healthy (for the most part). Also got our first opportunity to hear our baby's heartbeat.
I know the hearing the heartbeat for the first time is a big deal for a lot of parents but we weren't bowled over. It just doesn't compare to seeing it on the scan for the first time. I knew what to expect with the heartbeat, but the scan was full of surprises. for example, I didn't expect to see the baby moving quite so early. The heartbeat sounds like I'm carrying a train, rather than a baby.
