The Martyrs.
This is Thomson Dagnall`s memorial to the Tolpuddle Martyrs in Dorset.
The figure is that of George Loveless,leader of the group of six, convicted in 1834 of "administering unlawful oaths to form a Union". He and the others were sent to Australia. George was released in 1837,returned to England, and then went to Canada. He became a Methodist minister. He died there in 1874, aged 77.
