St John's Spire

This is not the view most people see of this spire - the other side faces the main street.
I thought I should take a blip of it before the scaffold appears as in the New Year a major repair to the spire will take place and there will be scaffolding up for many months.
Built in 1878, and despite regular maintenance, time and weather has taken its toll on this the tallest spire in the town. The story goes that some of the local Polish soldiers during the war used the weather vane for target practice.!
Thanks to generous grants and local fund raising the target has almost been reached.
