The Same River......
.......but what a difference a day makes! The river Slea looks so different from yesterday's image - the sun is shining out of clear blue sky, the wind has dropped but it is much colder.
Most of the ducks are hiding but one brave soul is dabbling around in the mud. Although only yards away from the main road and just below the old Cogglesford Mill, the whole scene is quiet and relaxing, with no one around at all.
Today is the 150th Anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's speech to the USA - The Gettysburg Address - the free Dedication Day event is held annually at Soldiers' National Cemetery. Last year's commemoration drew some 9,000 people.
This year, however, our thoughts must be with all the people in all the States of the USA that have been and are being affected by the tornadoes sweeping through the mid West. For us in our little island, it is difficult to imagine what it must be like to lose family, friends and our homes to the vagaries of the weather. Please give a thought to all - not forgetting the members of the public services who are doing their very best in what must be atrocious conditions.
As you will have gathered, the weather is much improved since yesterday - sunny and bright, a light wind but much colder - only 33 Deg.F. as I type
Keep warm and enjoy the sunshine if you have it.
(Last year I blipped "Unloved" - what is left of Haverholme Priory)
