Etang aux carpes
Monday
Our morning bible study was meeting in the center of Fontainebleau, so afterwards I decided to go walking in the grounds of the chateau for a change. I walked there several times back in the summer when we were staying in the hotel, but I haven't been back much since we've been in the house. It was a totally different atmosphere today - the crowds of tourists are gone and there were just a few walkers and joggers, and not too many of those since it was another gloomy grey day. I had several possible blips to choose from - a swan posed rather nicely for me, as well as a couple of gulls on the wall around the pond, the chateau reflected in the water - but I finally chose this one of the pavilion in the Etang des Carpes (Carp Pond), framed by autumn leaves. I figured the next time I go the leaves may well be gone, whereas the swans will probably still be there! Worth seeing in large so you can see the gulls on the railing.
I had to do a bit of grocery shopping on my way home, so it was a late lunch, then getting a few jobs done. Roger's got big meetings at work all this week and tonight he was really late home, so I ended up having dinner on my own and heating his up when he got home - thank goodness for microwaves!
