Heading out
Our last day and we're heading back out to Windy Point where our cars are parked.
The heavy snow 2 winters ago caused significant damage through this area. When I came through last December DOC had only just cleared most of the track damage. Even now there are parts where you have to either climb over, under or bush bash around fallen trees.

That's all part of the territory we enter. It's how the ecology works with wind, snow and rain cause beech trees to topple, the forest canopy opens allowing more light through and seedlings regenerate. At least that is the theory.
Before we left the hut the sand flies were out in force. They love moisture and humidity. When they're out you know the weather is likely to change. They certainly made the long drop loo a challenge this morning ;-)
Another classic trip into the mountains. As much as I love it, a hot shower, flush loo and clean clothes will be welcome tonight :-)
Friday - crossing the Hope River
Saturday - Moody Hope Valley
With the big post-trip clean up and plans to fish after work at least one night this week, I might be missing in action :-)
