“We're here to see our grandson, he’s only a few weeks old but I can see so much potential in him!"
The German market is in town! (it has been for a while I know but I hadn't had a chance to visit it until today).
I like the atmosphere of the market, especially during the evenings when the lights (and the music) are on. Though I don't think it'd be ideal for street photography.
I saw this Indian couple sat on a bench, taking in the afternoon sun. I said "Hi" as I passed, no intention to ask for their portraits but the gent (Sriram) gave a really huge grin, and warm "Hi" back so I decided to have a chat.
They were more interested in me than my usual subjects, asking me questions which I'd normally impose on my strangers. Now I know how it feels ;)
Sriram is a retired electrical engineer, from the Tamil Nadu (south east) region of India. The couple are here to see their daughter, son-in-law, and most importantly their grandson, he told me.
He insisted I take a picture with them so he grabbed a passer-by, shoved his camera in their face and requested I sit down next to them. I obliged and afterwards got a few shots of them.
It’s not very common to see people wearing balaclavas these days is it? Unless they're concealing their identity for some other purpose. I suppose it has too much of a bad association for people to consider it, and it'd have to be damn cold for that to be overcome.
