Just a song at twilight
Several songs, actually. This evening I went along to a singing session organised by Teresa, who is currently leading Sing with Pride, in the glorious Binham Priory about an hour (or so) drive out of Norwich. The two hour session brought together the four choirs she has led for a few years and she also invited members of Sing with Pride to join them.
It wasn't a concert as such, more of an opportunity for a 'big sing' - most of the songs were songs which everyone knew but may not have all sung together and there was one short song which she taught from scratch very quickly. There were about 90 of us singing together and as well as singing all together in one big group she split us up so that we sang together from different parts of the Priory (it's not a big place) and the way the sound played around the space was stunning.
She asked people to bring candles, to add to the ambience (and to add a bit of warmth!) and the friends and family members who came along to listen said it looked (and sounded) lovely. I, though, was a bit anxious when I heard the person behind me say 'do be careful you don't drip hot candle wax down the back of that leather jacket!'
I needn't have worried though, as the person holding the candle dropped it at that point and it got trod on by another singer. Putting the flame out and crushing the candle in one fell swoop.
