In The Shadow Of The Bonhomme Richard.

After a failed attack against Leith Harbour by Scots-born American revolutionary John Paul Jones during the Wars of Inpendence of 1779, a fort was built to protect the anchorage against further attacks that never came. After nearly 175 years of a military presence, the fort and barracks were demolished, leaving only the perimeter wall and guardhouse as a housing estate was built up with the site during the 1960s.

Now, prior to redevelopment after the recent demolishing of the seven-storey Fort House, the archaeologists have moved in; conducting a three-week survey in association with the city council to investigate the site - already revealing the remains of barrack buildings and a powder magazine - attempting to find clues and piece together a forgotten chapter in Leith's long history.
