Waves at Hoy Sound

The forecast wasn't great and I woke to rain battering off the window which was strange as I live on a satellite circling the earth.
I don't really. I headed to Stromness for a shore walk as, if the weather gets too bad, the town isn't far off, and walked along the coast. It was really windy- strong enough to blow your socks off. The water was very rough with only few birds able to handle the conditions- some gannets, cormorants, shags and these few long-tailed ducks. I did get some purple sandpipers in a mix flock with turnstones and redshank as well.
