North Street, Cromford. Derbyshire

Visited the Mills today near Matlock part of the Derwent Valley Mills. Firstly to the John Smedley Mill shop for some new jumpers for Mr H then onto Cromford Mill which was the first water-powered spinning mill in the 1770's.

Through the village of Cromford is North Street, the earliest example of planned industrial housing in the world, now part of a designated World Heritage Site. Number 10 is available for rent via The Landmark Trust and sleeps 4. In the 1770's it would have housed large Weaver families within the small rooms. A fascinating journey through the historical area.
