The Warren near Goodwood Racecourse, South Downs

On the way to Chichester today, I made a stop near Goodwood Racecourse to photograph the view from near the Triangle Car Park. This view is looking west from the lane down to Charlton known as Knight's Hill. At the top of the picture is woodland known as Charlton Park with a portion of Goodwood Racecourse. The isolated trees are in a bottom or valley known as The Warren which includes a square of Millet or Maize grown especially as cover for Pheasants. The trees at the bottom of the picture are part of Yewtree Hanger. As far as I know, all the land in the picture belongs to the Dukes Of Richmond & Gordon and managed by the current heir, the Earl Of March whose seat is at Goodwood House. The Goodwood Estate is one of the largest estates in the South and offers walking, shooting, the Festival Of Speed and of course Horseracing at the famous course you can see in part of the picture.
