A Thousand Words

Deaf Pride.

Today I had to work at the library for the afternoon. While I was closing, I stumbled on this artwork that wasn't there last year. It's not necessarily the best blip, but it definitely reflects a part of who I am ever since I came to Gallaudet four years ago.

Being Deaf is a huge part of who I am ever since I decided to come to Gallaudet. Coming from a mainstream environment, it was very shocking to see and experience classes taught in sign language instead of relying on the interpreter. I've ingrained different culture bits like needing to have people's eyes on me when talking, getting people attention through lights, shouts, vibrations, or tapping on the shoulder.

I don't know what I would do without that culture.

Back-blipped for the past week.
