The Tiny Chapel of Yuma
Small, yet welcoming,
set back from the highway to
offer rest and peace.

In 1995, Loren Pratt built this little church just off Highway 95 near Yuma in memory of his late wife, Lois. The sign on the highway states its purpose " Pause Rest Worship". It measures 7 feet by 12 feet with 6 small pews that might hold 12 people if they were very friendly. There is a small wooden pulpit with a small wooden cross on the wall behind it.
The church is an attraction for tourists and has hosted many funerals, weddings and sunrise services for Easter.
In September 2011 the church was severely damaged by a microburst that lifted it off its foundation and smashed it down some 60 feet away. All the stained glass windows that a local Yuman had created for it (including a nativity scene) were gone. The steeple was crushed and one wall was completely destroyed.
Friends of the Pratt family rallied once again to restore the church. It was ready for the Easter Sunday service in April 2012.
