Swimming Through Autumn
A Canada goose swimming up the River Derwent near Calver, Derbyshire. The reflections / patterns on the water were too good to miss so I tracked the birds as they made their way gently upstream.
Just after this shot, I noticed something swimming straight towards me. Imagine my delight when I realised it was a water vole - "Ratty" from Wind in the Willows and one of Britain's fastest disappearing mammals. I got a half way decent shot of it but I think the goose wins on artistic grounds if not rarity value.
