That was the trees nickname in bygone days. The Silver Birch-- pass this one about six times a day. Often have a long look at the way the bark ,old and new appears. The bark is waterproof,am told it is still used to make Water Tablets,for the treatment of Duiretics.
Anyway,the Finns like it, their National Tree.And Steeple Chasers,beson makers and rumour has it that birch leaf tea is good at curing Gout !
